Altitude: 1800 meters
Varietal: SL-28, SL-34, Ruirui II (All Peaberry)
It's been a while since we've brought in a Kenyan coffee, but this Giakanja has made it worth the wait. This is a mixed peaberry lot that has that distinct Kenyan flavor profile. This is a light roast and makes a juicy, tart, jammy cup.
Kenyan coffee is undeniable - it's a unique and distinct flavor profile that, despite the same varietals being grown elsewhere, can only be found coming out of Kenya. Part of that of course comes down to the terroir, rich volcanic soils along the foothills of Mount Kenya, but the flavors pop and the quality is outstanding because of the commitment to processing. This "washed" coffee is the result of a 3 staged 72 hour fermentation, a process that is unique to Kenya.
