Most of you by now are familiar with the coffees we bring in from Nicaragua from Luis Alberto Balladarez. We've worked with Luis Alberto now for over 4 years. In years past we've featured coffees from his farms Finca Regalo de Dios and Finca La Bendicion (and we will again later this year :)). This coffee is a first timer on our menu and is from a different farm of his called Finca La Esperanza, which is right next to his Finca Regalo de Dios in Dipilto, Nueva Segovia.
Luis Alberto's operation is renowned for processing naturals. His naturals are always really clean and consistent. This is due to a meticulous and elaborate washing and drying system. La Esperanza is a natural processed bourbon. We are getting bing cherry, white peach, and sugarcane. This is a light-medium roast, no crazy fermented funkiness on this one, but a nice fruit sweetness.
Luis Alberto received 3rd place in the Cup of Excellence (COE) last year, 6th place in the COE in 2021, 1st place in 2020, 1st and 5th place in 2018, as well as 3rd and 13th place in 2017.... he is no stranger to producing exceptional coffees
